#4 Is your skin struggling this summer?

//#4 Is your skin struggling this summer?

Then you need to get glowing…

Here are a number of our targeted treatment programs designed to revitalise, repair and restore your skin that are safe, effective and work.

During the height of Australia’s summer, your skin constantly struggles against sun, salt, chlorine, hot wind and extremes of heat.

This means your skin’s supporting structures – collagen (which give the skin fullness or that plumped look) and elastin (which give the skin the ability to bounce back) get a hammering.

And the sun is your number 1 enemy. Prolonged and unprotected exposure to UV radiation destroys collagen and elastin resulting in wrinkles and sagging skin.

Plus (yes, it gets worse) – your skin produces more melanin to protect your skin – the result – increased pigmentation. Your skin begins to look patchy and blotchy.

Here are six of our most effective targeted treatment programs that help you to achieve healthier younger looking skin. Use individually or in combination for even greater results.

Microdermabrasion is an effective deep mechanical exfoliation to remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. This means your skin will immediately look and feel brighter and smoother without any downtime. It is the ideal treatment before a big event!

Plus, there are several other great skin benefits including…

  1. It is suitable for most skin types and skin colours
  2. It is safe and so can be an alternative to more advanced treatments such as laser.
  3. Improves circulation and lymphatic circulation deep within the skin, which equals improvement internal health of the skin. The enhanced blood flow means more oxygen and nutrients are supplied to the cells.
  4. By removing your dead skin and promoting circulation, microdermabrasion enhances the absorption of skincare products by up to 50%. This means your skin is receptive to your active ingredients
  5. Helps reduce the appearance of skin pores (for continued improvement use a skin smoothing serum at home).

A series of treatments is recommended every 2 to 3 weeks. The treatments take about 45 minutes and afterward your skin will be slightly red.

2. Skin Workouts

Skin Workouts (sometimes called Skin Peels) use a combination of liquid exfoliants to remove the skin’s upper layers and work well on discoloration, fine lines, congested pores, and freckles. They are also effective in helping with acne and problematic skin.

Using a combination of acids derived from plants such as willow bark and fruits acids they work by “ungluing” the sticky residue that binds dead skin cells to the upper layers of your skin.

Depending on the type of peel you may experience some redness and skin flaking after the treatment.

Skin Workouts are suitable for most skin types and work well on teenage skins.

For significant visible results, a series of 4-6 treatments are recommended every 2 to 3 weeks.

3.Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

IPL is classified as a non-ablative rejuvenation as it leaves the top layer of skin intact while targeting the lower layers of the skin to help stimulate collagen and elastin, destroying pigmentated lesions and vascular lesions.

Ideal for reversing the visible signs of premature ageing such as age spots, pigmentation, and redness. In fact, IPL can be more effective than pulsed dye lasers and can penetrate deeper with reduced risk of purpura and hyperpigmentation.

It is also effective in increasing collagen and elastin production by tricking your skin cells to go in to “recovery” mode producing plumper more even skin.

Treatment takes approximately 45 minutes and your skin may be a little red afterward.

4.Light Emitting Diode (LED) Treatments

LED emits therapeutic wavelengths (or colours) of non-thermal light energy’ LED is different to both laser and IPL as there’s no heat involved. Originally developed to help babies to recover from jaundice and fast-track the healing of wounds and post-surgery scars it is now an effective and safe skin treatment.

The different lights target specific cells, convert light energy into ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the fuel that the cell uses to do its job. The LED gives the cells a ‘full tank of fuel’ and fibroblast cells start to produce collagen and elastin.

Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Results can include improved texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

All in-clinic treatments continue to work effectively when supported by a comprehensive home care program, including sun protection, improvements will continue long after your treatment program.

Remember effective skin care combines both home and salon treatments. 70% of your results come from comprehensive and consistent homecare. Always remove makeup at night, clean your face every day and apply a full spectrum SPF 30+ or greater sunscreen every day (regardless of the weather).
